Effective Literacy Website #2 by Jeanmarie Cruz

GoNoodle is a free online resource for teachers to use in their classrooms. The aim of GoNoodle is to bring community wellness and physical and mental health into our lessons and classrooms. It is a globally diverse website, rooted in technology. But how does this relate to literacy? The GoNoodle website displays many different videos that incorporate literacy and movement. Some of their video topics include learning about the alphabet, consonants, blends, digraphs and more. The website also offers free printable activities. Some of the skills/ topics that the activities cover are capitalization, punctuation, and contractions. It also promotes literacy and reading through activities like short passages paired with comprehension questions, writing sentences and learning about prefixes, suffixes and root words.

Exercise, songs, and printables! All things that make a website a great resource for teachers.

  1. I have also used Go Noodle when I taught younger grades. I love the games as well as the movement involved.

Just like that fall intersession is over and spring semester is approaching. I had a great time reading through everyone’s literacy reviews....
