Effective Literacy Website #2: Fuel the Brain by Tammy Leon Guerrero

Fuel the Brain (https://fuelthebrain.com/) is a website that offers educational games, printables, and materials that are aligned with elementary education standards. Fuel the Brain offers Math, Science, and Langauge Arts content. Students can practice important skills while having fun.

The website is easy to navigate due to the helpful tabs on the landing page. Students, parents, and teachers can find the resources they need easily. Games, interactives, printables, and teacher guides can be filtered by subject area or skill.

Fuel the Brain also offers premade mini-books on various topics. This is a great resource for students to tap into to read stories created by other students and teachers. When viewing a published mini-book, students can view the book page by page and even print it out.

Not only does Fuel the Brain offer published mini-books, but they also offer a tool for students and teachers to create their own books. To do so, all students must do is click the "Create a new Mini-Book!" tab. This will then open up a page for students to select a subject for their book and provide a title. Then, students can decide on the placement of any images they want to include and begin writing their stories. Students are not limited to the number of pages they can write. Once the story is finished, the book can then be published. This is an awesome tool, especially for students writing and publishing stories.

Fuel the Brain offers free educational and standards-aligned games and materials. The site also allows students to read and create their own mini-books for free. This function would best fit students learning the Writing Process as they prepare to publish their stories.

Ciera’s Farewell

Just like that fall intersession is over and spring semester is approaching. I had a great time reading through everyone’s literacy reviews....
