Ed San Nic's Technology Picks: Effective Literacy Website #3: Reading A-Z

 https://www.readinga-z.com/

The Reading A-Z website is packed full of resources for grades K-12. It is one of the many products of the Learning A-Z family. The layout is very simple and user friendly. Although this resource is awesome, it is not free. You could purchase a membership to use this product or your school could purchase it for use, which would save you a pretty penny. My school currently has purchased this program. If yours has not, do not worry. The website offers a 14 day free trial which gives you full access to all resources available on the website. Below is a picture of the login page.

As you can see in the pictures above, this website has two main tabs: Resources and Add Ons. The resources tabs allows you to choose how you want to find your specific resource. The Add Ons tab is directed towards resources for ELL students. The Add On feature is not available on the free trial and is to be purchased separately. The Resources contains 4 ways to choose how you want to find your resources. The choices are as follows: Standards, Books and Passages, Skills, and Languages.

The picture above shows the drop down menu from the resources tab. Curriculum is highlighted and allows the user to pick a literacy curriculum according to their grade level. The curriculum is already made for 32 weeks. It consists of 8 units, with each unit being 4 weeks long.

The picture below show the options given when highlighting the books tab. You have the option of choosing a genre, a content area, or types of texts.

Below is a picture that shows what is available under the skills tab when phonological awareness is chosen. As you can see, pre-made lessons are ready for use.

These are just a few of the many resources available through Reading A-Z.  Teachers will appreciate the simplicity of this website as well as its ease of use when locating the appropriate online resource.  Make use of the 14 day free trial to explore this website more in depth and download the resources that are made available. This is one online tool that would be nice to have

Ciera’s Farewell

Just like that fall intersession is over and spring semester is approaching. I had a great time reading through everyone’s literacy reviews....
