Effective Literacy Website #1: Funbrain by Tammy Leon Guerrero

Funbain (https://www.funbrain.com/) is a free website that houses many games, books, videos, and printables for Pre-K through 8th grade. Funbrain was developed in 1997, and its primary purpose was to provide children with activities to hone further their math, reading, problem-solving, and literacy skills. It was on this site that Diary of a Wimpy Kid was first published before it became a successful book series and eventually a movie franchise.

Funbrain is an excellent site for students, teachers, and parents. The site offers a unique landing page for each grade so that students can find grade-appropriate content. Games, books, and videos are also tagged with key subject areas and skills to make them easier to find.
Students can access various books in one of two ways. The first way is by clicking on their respective grade level. The site provides featured titles at the top, and the rest of the library is below. Each book is labeled with a grade range that can benefit students still learning to read grade-appropriate texts.

The second way students can locate books they would like to read is by clicking on the "reading" tab at the top of the main page. The site provides its entire library of books and the grade range in each book title.

Funbrain is a great literacy website because it provides students with many ways to hone their literacy and math skills. Funbrain offers interactive games that make learning fun. They also have many books and video topics catering to different interests. The site is user-friendly, so teachers and parents can be assured that their children will have fun learning.

Ciera’s Farewell

Just like that fall intersession is over and spring semester is approaching. I had a great time reading through everyone’s literacy reviews....
