 VocabularySpellingCity is a website that was launched in 2008 as SpellingCity. The website has since grown and merged with Learning A-Z as part of Cambium Learning Group. The website is dedicated to helping students, teachers, parents and school systems. VocabularySpellingCity has been proven to be an effective literacy tool through a study conducted by McREL International.  

VocabularySpellingCity offers many resources for teachers. The main idea of the website is to gamify literacy learning. It allows teachers to curate games based on word lists tailored to their current classroom instruction. The website also offers games based on reading programs like Journeys, Reading Street and Wonders. This is a very big selling factor for VocabularySpellingCity, seeing as Journeys is our district’s current reading program for elementary. The Journeys feature offers games to improve Common Core vocabulary, spelling and high frequency words. The website also offers information on different educational topics like classroom, culture and ELA standards.
