Effective Literacy Website #1 by Mary Jane P

Monkey Pen

Greg Hall is the CEO and founder of MonkeyPen. Greg was born in India and wasn’t so fortunate financially growing up. He grew up in an environment where owning a book was considered a luxury. Hall was able to fuel his love for stories by borrowing books from his neighbors! Hall, having faced so many life challenges in his early life, devotes his time ensuring books are accessible to all children regardless of their socioeconomic background.

MonkeyPen does not require any sign up. You can immediately access thousands of books from the website- books which can be filtered by a child’s age. These children's books are also available to download with one click, all for free. Every other month, the website also updates the free resources. Users are able to access free coloring books, pages and educational posters. The website also accepts orders for personalized books for an affordable price of 10 euros, about 11 US dollars. Gifting personalized books will give your student or child the thrill of being the main illustrated character in the book with your own personal message.

MonkeyPen’s vision is to create and translate thousands of free children’s books into as many languages as possible. Offering these many books with different languages will hopefully encourage our children to read at least one book a day from age one to eleven. MonkeyPen is a free and reliable website I’ve used several times during my undergrad studies at the University of Guam. Monkey Pen’s vision is to create a love for books amongst all children worldwide, ultimately shaping the young minds of today and fostering global citizens. Monkey pen offers free and necessary reading and learning tools to do just that.

Ciera’s Farewell

Just like that fall intersession is over and spring semester is approaching. I had a great time reading through everyone’s literacy reviews....
