Effective Literacy Website #3 by Mary Jane P

TeachingBooks

Teaching books is a literacy website that provides readers with equal access and opportunities to enhance their understanding and enjoyment of the books they read! They would like to empower every reader to connect deeply with a book, understand the author and experience a joy for reading.

Students are able to dive into a wide range of books which can be filtered to their own interests. You can find every detail there is to know about each book, from the year it’s been published, book genre, word count, text complexity and their AR quiz numbers!!! This information can be valuable when finding books that will cater to each learner's reading abilities.

My favorite feature of the website is the handful of resources that each book comes with. Resources for each book can include everything from biographies about the authors, book guides,  readings, book trailers, lesson plans and activities! The lesson plan and activities can be beneficial to ensure that you create meaningful and educational activities that can go along with the book your kids will be reading!

As for pricing, there are options for personal, school and district use- all in which ranges from $125 to higher. Not to worry though because there is a free single user option that includes all the essential features that you can use! The basic and free option includes all the following:

  • Unlimited exploration of book, author, and award information.

  • Credits to access all 345,433 resources.

  • Chapters and previews of 63,324 books.

  • Author Name Pronunciations.

  • Your state reading lists

  • Daily features

  • Reading levels and book metadata

  • Book Annotations

  • Puzzles and Games

  • TeachingBooks Chrome Extension

Ciera’s Farewell

Just like that fall intersession is over and spring semester is approaching. I had a great time reading through everyone’s literacy reviews....
