Teresa D: Effective Literacy Website #2

Reading Bear is a free project by
WatchKnowLearn.org that parents and teachers can use to supplement phonetic and phonemic skills for beginner readers. In addition to enhancing literacy, it is expected to benefit ESL students significantly.
It is worthwhile to note that the website offers several presentations covering the primary phonetic patterns of written English and illustrations of each vocabulary since the free website relies on voluntary donations and sponsorships for support.

Reading Bear is especially useful for students who have difficulty learning the sounds of letters and words. It is also a great tool for parents who want to help their children build a strong foundation in reading.

Moreover, Reading Bear's curriculum and format are designed to align with literacy learning objectives for primary grade levels. The activities are divided into modules based on the student's proficiency level. The teacher's manual includes the word lists students will encounter throughout the module. For instance, in the module for CVC words, the word list comprises words such as cat, hat, and mat.

The teachers will increasingly appreciate this website as they use it more often because its lessons are integrated with songs. This feature makes learning fun, which is especially helpful for struggling readers. Integrating music can effectively improve reading skills, particularly for students learning English as a second language or those with special education needs. In general, it is an excellent tool for supplementary learning and provides a student-friendly way to practice every day.

Ciera’s Farewell

Just like that fall intersession is over and spring semester is approaching. I had a great time reading through everyone’s literacy reviews....
