Ed San Nic's Technology Picks Blog: Effective Literacy Website pick#1

https://www.literacyworldwide.org/

This website is all about everything dealing with literacy. It even has the word ‘literacy’ as part of its name. This is a professional website geared more towards professions that deal with the promotion and research of literacy, such as teachers.  As stated in its mission:

ILA connects research and practice to improve the quality of literacy learning across the globe in ways that are respectful, responsive, and ethical. We advocate for equitable access to literacies among individuals of all ages and diverse communities as a basic human right and a matter of social justice.

I will use their mission statement as a basis for my review. I will be discussing if the website holds true to their purpose.

The ILA aims to connect research and practice to improve the quality of literacy learning across the globe

While navigating through this website it is quite obvious that they are committed to connecting the research and practices across the globe. They have Digital events as well as in-person events with various topics about literacy. The beauty of the digital events is that it can be replayed just in case you missed it. It doesn’t matter where you are in the world. You have access to these literacy events. The current topic is about dyslexia. The picture below is a sneak peak at what you’ll see.

The ILA also aims to:

advocate for equitable access to literacies among individuals of all ages and diverse communities as a basic human right and a matter of social justice

All an individual needs is a laptop and an internet connection. The information is here for all to access. It has no boundaries. This information is meant for the world and the ILA website is doing a good job at making it accessible. With the click of a button I am able to access a multitude of research based resources. Below is a sample of these resources that are easily accessible.

As you can see with this short review, the ILA website is doing a great job with holding true to their mission. You would be hard pressed to find a more complete sight such as this in regards to literacy. So what do you say? Check out the ILA!

Ciera’s Farewell

Just like that fall intersession is over and spring semester is approaching. I had a great time reading through everyone’s literacy reviews....
